Saturday, July 10, 2021 on the western beach of Cesenatico will be organized a day open to the public and dedicated to migratory fish par excellence: the eel!
A unique appointment for research and dissemination of the University of Bologna (Degree Course in Aquaculture and Hygiene of Fish Productions) and Circolo Vela Cesenatico. On this occasion it will be possible to attend a lesson (open to all) teach by Professor Oliviero Mordenti, researcher at the University of Bologna: the researcher and his research group, unique in Italy on the subject, are dealing with the reproduction and larval weaning of eel, species at risk of extinction. The group is one of the few in the world to have developed a protocol capable of reproducing this fish in a controlled environment. In addition, during the morning the LIFEEL project will be presented to the public and a few thousand of young (leptocephaly) and a dozen eel breeders will be released.
Also for the Circolo Vela Cesenatico this initiative represents a beautiful opportunity as it is consistent with a series of initiatives of education in science and sustainability that the sailing club has been promoting for some years in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region and the municipalities of Cesena and Cesenatico.
The Emilia-Romagna Region LIFEEL project partner, the municipal administrations of Cesenatico and Cesena and the Associazione Pesca sportiva e Ricreativa di Ravenna (co-funding of the Project) joined the initiative.
Please note that the event is free and open to the public of all ages. As seats are limited, reservations are welcome at the following numbers: Sailing School Secretariat: 370 3652520; Sporting director: 347 4685045.
